Tell us who you are and what do you do
I’m Sofia, mostly known as Nay. I’m a make up artist, fashion producer and a model sometimes.
What are your thoughts on body exposure on social media?
It’s complicated, even though we are all free to show ourselves how and where we’d like, social media allows some people to “cover” themselves with an imagen, many times false, feeling entitled and with the right to comment, judge, and even hurt someone just because they decided to shamelessly show their bodies.
Us women we are more expose to this, and we only have two choices, to be bold and upload all kinds of content, exposing ourselves to all kinds of comments. Harassment comes almost by default if we decided to upload anything remotely sensual, or simply abstein from that. I feel like it’s ok to look at our bodies as erotic but beyond that, to be able to look at it like something natural. We dont need to sexualize it all the time.
The ones that do decide to show our bodies know that on the other side of the screen there’s always going to be someone
taking that picture further, but dispite that no one can take away the gratification of seeing yourself in a picture like that,
it’s amazing how much you can reflect with so little,
how powerful and great you can actually feel… and say wow! That’s me? Really?
Everytime i do a photoshoot in lingerie, which is not that often i usually do it once in a while, i am amazed with myself,
is such a private moment, almost like a catharsis, and exposing yourself in social media can bring a lot a difficulties
but we are also educating, and proving how brave we are, and little by little erasing those prejudice from our minds.
What would you tell other girls that want to model?
To those girls that do want to model lingerie i would tell them that it is never too late to feel safe on our bodies and feel beautiful, but you do have to have the character and personality to face all those misoginistic comments or people that only want to criticize.
Dispite that i do believe that it is important to feel certain with the decisions you make, alright! Let no one tell you what you can or cannot do, if your way of expressing yourself and feel free goes along with taking nude and lingerie pictures then DO IT!
Search, find new things, discover your body and surprise yourself!
Do you think it's necessary to have a degree to work on the art and fashion scene?
To me to be able to unfold in the art and fashion scene it is not necessary to have a degree, only vision, perseverance and love for what you do. I believe anyone can learn by looking, reading, listening to others. You only have to be open and up to never stop learning, absorve everything around you, transform it and make it yours. It is very important to find your own essence, that is what makes you unique in this industry.
My dream underwear?
It should be comfortable, and too be honest with a lot of cotton because usually i suffer from alergies of other more sintethic fabrics. Without it to take away the sensuality, i choose colors like red and black, those are my favorite. To me there's nothing more important than to feel pretty from the deepest of myself to the outside.
Even though nobody can see your underwear, i can assure you that it brings confidence, confidence and atitude.
